GWENT: The Witcher Card Game Releases on Steam, New Launch Trailer

GWENT: The Witcher Card Game from CD Project Red has officially released on the Steam gaming platform.

Originally released in 2018, GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is a free to play online card game based off the video game series of the same name, which in turn was based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher novels.

GWENT is a head-to-head multiplayer card game with two players opposing one another, and trying to end a series of rounds with the highest points in order to win. The cards and visuals are all based off The Witcher series, and includes familiar faces for fans of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

GWENT- like many other online card games- operates on a free-to-play model with micro transactions. Players are able to purchase cards with real money in order to complete their collections. Players can also craft premium cards with dust and ore, that is earned by recycling old cards and through play.

You can watch the official Steam trailer below via YouTube.

It is worth noting that as we reported previously, console support for GWENT has ended, and after June 9th the game will no longer be operational on Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

Though the game is being released on Steam, players will still need to create and sign into a GOG account in order to play GWENT. You can find the full rundown (via Steam) below.

Beautiful, hand-drawn art and mesmerizing visual effects breathe life into every card, battle and battlefield, making GWENT fun to play and every duel a joy to watch.

EASILY SATISFYING, ANYTHING BUT EASY
Sling cards from your deck across two tactically distinct rows — melee and ranged. Gather more points in the duel against your opponent to win a round. Win two out of three rounds to win the battle. It won’t be easy, but no one said it should be.

NO HOLDING BACK, NO HOLDING HANDS
You start with 10 cards from your deck in hand, able to play each card right from the start. It’s up to you to open the game with your strongest unit, or save the best for later in the fight. How will your deck look and what will your strategy be?

GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is available on Windows PC via GOG, and Steam.
