Japan’s Computer Entertainment Rating Organization (CERO) have announced that they will be reopening, after closing due to the coronavirus pandemic.
On April 7th we reported that CERO would be ceasing operations until May 6th. This announcement cames immediately after Prime Minister Shinzo Abe declared a state of emergency on the same day.
Now, CERO have announced on the official English website that they will resume their work on from May 7th. You can read the statement in full below.
“By this mechanism, I declare emergency about the new coronavirus of the government and was closed in response to a going out self-restraint request by the Tokyo Governor temporarily, but reopen duties from May 7 after having strengthened the infection precaution of the staff and the judge. During a suspension of business period, I apologize for having hung the worry that is great for all of relations and a burden including a member.I do it for the time being from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to perform off-peak commuting about the duties time. In addition, I am pushing forward preparations to introduce a telework early by this mechanism now.”
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic (also known as COVID-19 officially, or Chinese Flu to others) has affected many worldwide, from businesses to public gatherings and events.
This includes postponements of GDC, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the physical events for EVO 2020 and Fortnite Competitive tournaments, and cancellations E3 2020 (including digital events), the physical event for Gamescom 2020, and Comiket 98.

The Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering are mapping the virus’ spread [1, 2]. As of this time of writing, there have been over 3.531 million total confirmed cases worldwide, and over 2.148 million active cases. There have been over 248,000 deaths, however over 1.135 million people have made a “total recovery.”
Japan has had a total of 14,887 cases (10,419 active cases), 487 deaths, and 3,981 recoveries.
