NieR RepliCant Announced for PC, PS4, and Xbox One; Includes New Content

NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139…

Square Enix have announced an “upgrade” of 2010’s Japan-exclusive NieR RepliCant, titled “NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139…”

The original game took place before the events of NieR: Automata, and after Drakengard. The PlayStation 3 game was set in the same world as NieR Gestalt– exclusive to the Xbox 360, and releasing in the west. Both games featured different main characters, and were set at different times.

The official NieR series Twitter account also states the game will be an “upgrade” on the original. Famitsu reports that Square Enix’s Yosuke Saito stated “It’s not a remake, a remaster, but a version upgrade.” (Translation: Google Translate)

Famitsu also reports that during a 10-hour livestream (celebrating the series’ 10th anniversary), other information was also revealed. “Various elements” are being added, along with full voice acting. Keiichi Okabe has also re-recorded all of the game’s music, in addition to there being new tracks.

Voice actors and actresses Natsuki Hanae, Yui Ishikawa, and Kaoru Akiyama will also have smaller roles- all of them being involved in NieR: Automata (9S, 2B, and Pod 153 respectively). It was noted that Yui had already finished her recording.

While the NieR series is famous for their game’s numerous endings, Famitsu hints that maybe there is a different ending?” Saito stated “I don’t even know.”

UPDATE: We previously stated Hiroyuki Yasumoto shall be in charge of the project. In actuality, he will voice the Grimoire Weiss. This is due to the previous voice actor (Shinnosuke Ikehata, also known as Peter) being busy with a theatrical performance role.

The trailer itself notes the game will be developed by Toylogic.
