Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Expansion Digital Sales and Shipments Top 5 Million Units

Capcom have announced Monster Hunter World: Iceborne has achieved 5 million sales physically and digitally, worldwide.

Back in September 2019, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne had shipped 2.5 million units. In January of this year, it had shipped 4 million units. Once again, Capcom stated the base game (Monster Hunter World) sold 15 million units as of January 2nd.


Capcom also show no signs of slowing down with the franchise.

“Furthermore, in addition to the new mobile title Monster Hunter Riders (for iOS/Android), which launched in February 2020 and achieved more than 3 million downloads, Capcom plans to carry out a number of initiatives to further cement the series’ position as a global brand, such as with a Hollywood film adaptation of Monster Hunter, a first for the series, scheduled for a September 2020 release.”

The game also won three awards at in 2019’s PlayStation Network Awards. According to SiliconEra, these include the PlayStation 25th Anniversary Users’ Choice Award (for the base game), the Gold Prize (for titles with over 500,000 sales in Japan and Asia), and the PlayStation Network Award (given to the top 3 best selling titles on PlayStation Network in Japan and Asia from October 1st, 2018 to September 30th, 2019).
