Hardcore Mode and Ultrawide Support Added to Disco Elysium

Disco Elysium

ZA/UM have announced the addition of Hardcore Mode and ultrawide screen support for Disco Elysium via a recent update.

The Hardcore True Detective Mode is not recommended for beginners, as it increases the difficulty of every Check, making the Total Disaster Cop outcome much harder. Enemies will drop less money, and healing items will not only cost more, but heal less.

Being able to resist alcohol, smoking, and drugs will also be harder. While not explicitly stated, the announcement also discusses how “the few possessions you do have become more important.” This likely means you will get less equipment overall. In addition the Thought Cabinet debuffs will be “more painful when you’re already more liable to fail.”

The one thing that has become easier however. Every time you finish a task, you will gain extra XP. This means players can level up faster and achieve higher levels, “if only marginally.”

Disco Elysium is currently available for Windows PC (via GOG, and Steam), and will launch in 2020 for PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
