Moons of Madness Console Port Delayed to March 24

Moons of Madness

On Moons of Madness‘ official Twitter account, it has been announced that the PlayStation 4, and Xbox One port of the game will be delayed.

The tweet carrying this news reads as follows:

“It’s with a heavy heart that we have to announce that the console release of Moons of Madness has been moved to March 24, 2020. This is so we have more time to optimize the game for consoles. We understand and apologize for the frustrations this may cause.”

Moons of Madness‘ console ports were initially slated for a January 21st release, though the game was first launched on Windows PC in October of 2019. Delays are nothing new for this game, however, as it was originally supposed to drop onto Windows PC sometime in 2018, being pushed back a whole year.

Delaying a game to optimize it is usually a good move, though the release date of March 24th might present some challenges for Rock Pocket Games and Funcom.

The Resident Evil 3 remake launches on April 3rd, the Final Fantasy VII remake drops on April 10th, and Cyberpunk 2077 comes out on April 16th. It is not unreasonable to suggest that people might be saving their hard-earned dosh for those big releases, making March a tough launch window for a smaller, less-hyped title like Moons of Madness.

For more info about Moons of Madness, check out our hands-on preview at E3 2019 for a firsthand account of our experience with the game. It’s a creepy Lovecraftian horror title, set on a research outpost on Mars. It focuses on isolation and paranoia to deliver its scares, and from Tyler and Brandon’s words about it, seems to accomplish that fairly handily.

We will keep you informed if there are any further delays.

Moons of Madness is out now on Windows PC (via Steam), and March 24th on PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
