Final Fantasy VII Remake is Timed Exclusive for PS4 Until 2021

We’ve learned the Final Fantasy VII Remake is officially a timed-exclusive to PlayStation 4, for a year.

The news comes from updated box art, which actually confirms the game will be exclusive to PS4 until March 3rd of 2021. This means fans wanting the game on Windows PC or Xbox One will have to wait that much longer. Here’s a look:

Since its reveal back in 2015, the Final Fantasy VII Remake was never fully exclusive to PlayStation 4, and was only in development for the Sony console, officially. Fans kept speculating it would eventually be confirmed for other platforms, closer to release.

It remains unclear how this timed-exclusive release schedule will work for the remake, considering it will be released in multiple parts, likely over the course of the next decade. The team behind the game is already working on the next game, as well.

In case you missed it, we did a thorough hands-on preview for the game at this year’s E3 – you can read that preview here.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is launching for PlayStation 4 on March 3, 2020.
