Platinum Games Announces Merch and Crossovers for Bayonetta 10th Anniversary

Platinum Games have announced how they are celebrating the 10th anniversary of Bayonetta, with merchandise and cross overs.

Originally launching on October 29th, 2009, Bayonetta quickly established itself as a classic with its blistering combat along with a sexy and slick presentation. To celebrate, Platinum Games have announced several Bayonetta-related projects.

Firstly, the Japanese version of smartphone game Valkyrie Anatomia- The Origin will have Bayonetta making an appearance. Not much else was revealed at this time, with the blog post stating “You’ll have to wait for more information from Square Enix on just what role Bayonetta will play in this event.” It was revealed that the story was being overseen by Bayonetta‘s director Hideki Kamiya.

The blog does not the event “will only take place in the Japanese version of the game,” and it’s definitive language sounds like that is unlikely to change.

Second, the company reiterated that the Good Smile Company would be creating a Nendroid of Bayonetta herself. While officially announced at Wonder Festival on July 28th, 2019, there is still no confirmation of a release date, or any images of the chibi-fied figure to be seen. Production has reportedly begun.

Platinum Games also revealed more merchandise in the form of apparel. Super-Groupies will be releasing a Bayonetta-themed backpack, wallet, and wristwatch. The tentative prices (without tax) are ¥14,800 for the backpack, ¥11,800 for the wallet, and ¥29,800 for the watch (est. $136, $108, and $273 respectively). It should be noted Super-Groupies does offer international shipping.

The final item revealed were life-sized replicas of Bayonetta’s guns, Scarborough Fair. While First 4 Figures announced they were working on something Bayonetta related back in 2017, it is now revealed they have been making Rodin’s Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme double-barreled demonic pistols- complete with decorative stands. While there is currently no pricing, and preorders do not start until 2020, international shipping is available.
