Mary Skelter 2 Banned in Australia

Idea Factory International have confirmed that Mary Skelter 2 has been banned from sale in Australia.

The news comes via Twitter, as one user asked the company that since the game was not getting a Steam release, would it still be sold in Australia and New Zealand. Their answer was not hopeful:

“Hi there! Unfortunately we cannot release in Australia because the age rating was not accepted :(“

While the game’s prequel Mary Skelter: Nightmare was rated R18+, it seems something in Mary Skelter 2 has run afoul of the Australian censors.

Other games to recently get banned in Australia include We Happy Few for the second time, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance, despite initially having a rating of R 18+. Back in July 2018, Australian Senator and leader of the Australian Liberal Democrats David Leyonhjelm proposed a bill to the Australian government to prevent video games from being banned in the region.

Mary Skelter 2 is launching for Nintendo Switch on October 22nd in North America and on October 23rd in Europe. The game will be getting a physical release via Limited Run games on November 26th.
