The recent announcement of Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore, users are concerned if the censorship in the original title will continue here.
For those unfamiliar, the original Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE had many instances of censorship.
These included risque clothing being edited to be less revealing (including an entire bikini edited out for mundane clothes), characters ages being changed to be older (with the Japanese voice actress re-recording a line where the character states her age), pelvic bones being removed on women, and hot springs DLC being omitted. Eagle-eyed fans noticed during the Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore trailer, a feminine monster had her chest covered with dark flames and smoke. This can be noticed at 0:28 in the English trailer, and curiously enough 0:22 in the Japanese trailer.
This exact same censorship happened in the original game (example above via Twitter user JPUncut). The censorship was only in the western versions of the game, further adding to the confusion why it is in the Japanese trailer.
Other instances include the character at 0:20 in the English trailer (and 0:15 in the Japanese trailer), where their pants have been edited to be less revealing. You can find an example of that below (via cross-up.blogspot.com)
We will keep you posted as we learn more.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore launches January 17th, 2020 on Nintendo Switch.
