Platinum Games Achieves First-Ever UK No.1 With Astral Chain

Astral Chain has hit the UK’s number 1 charts this week, a first for any game from Platinum Games.

The UK Interactive Entertainment trade body (UKIE), has announced that during the week (ending August 31st), the top selling game was Astral Chain.

“After a seasonal quiet period for new releases, the All Formats Chart finds itself with 4 new titles at the top. ‘Astral Chain’ debuts at No1 ahead of ‘Wreckfest’ at No2, ‘The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan’ at No3 and ‘Control’ at No4. Only around 1,500 sales separate No1 from No4.  Elsewhere ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man’ swings back in to the Top 10 at No8 thanks to a price drop, while ‘Collection of Mana’ arrives at No22 making it 5 new Top 40 games this week.”

You can find the top 10 below (and the full chart here):

It should be noted only physical sales for Astral Chain were counted, as digital sales figures are not something Nintendo usually announces so soon after release.

GamesIndustry.biz elaborates further, claiming this is the first time Platinum Games has entered the UK No. 1 spot- their highest previous entry being Metal Gear Rising: Revengance in 2013, earning the number 2 spot for one week. Astral Chain was also the sixth title to reach the UK number 1 this year.

Astral Chain is out now on Nintendo Switch. In case you missed it, you can read our review here (we highly recommend it!)
