Bethesda Announces Orion Platform for Game Streaming

Bethesda have announced Orion, a new piece of patented programming that will supposedly speed up game streaming on services such as XCloud and Stadia.

During Bethesda’s E3 2019 conference, they explained that Orion technology was implemented at the “game engine level”. In turn, this reduces latency by 20% per frame, and uses 40% less bandwidth.

Bethesda representitives also stated that players would allow players to stream games “at max settings” such as Doom at 60fps and at 4k resolution.

Finally, Bethesda states that those who join the DoomSlayers Club will be able to test the streaming capability right now, for free.
