New Earthworm Jim Game Announced, Coming Exclusively to Intellivision Amico

Following the surprise reveal that a new Intellivision console is coming, we’ve learned the upcoming hardware has secured a big exclusive game.

While there are many games being remade for the Intellivision Amico, we’ve learned a brand new Earthworm Jim title is being produced for the hardware.

Details are scant and the game is still untitled, however Intellivision Entertainment has recruited 10 programmers, artists, audio designers, and level designers from the original development team to make a brand new game in the series – exclusively for the Intellivision Amico. This includes original Earthworm Jim creator Doug TenNapel!

“We have been talking about this moment for many years, it’s a dream come true to finally get the entire team back together,” said Intellivision Entertainment CEO Tommy Tallarico (who also served as composer on both original Earthworm Jim games).

He added, “We’re looking forward to sharing a small part of our reunion and initial design meeting with fans from around the world. Intellivision Amico is designed to bring friends and families together and we are excited for fans and those just being introduced to the series to get a first look as we kick-off the design of the game.”

We’ll get a first look at the game on May 4th, where the team will livestream their first design meeting, where they’ll get direct feedback from fans, detail their current ideas, and more. The team is focused on bringing back the “uniqueness and humor of the Earthworm Jim series.”

TenNapel produced a new poster for the game. Here’s a look at a new poster commissioned for the game, 50 of which they’ll raffle off during the livestream:

Considering the design behind the game hasn’t started it, it could be some time before the game ships. The Intellivision Amico console itself won’t ship until October 10th of 2020.
