New Update for Mortal Kombat 11 Reduces Towers of Time Difficulty, Gives Away In-Game Currency

NetherRealm has announced it will be giving away in-game currency to all players of Mortal Kombat 11, along with reducing the difficulty in the Towers of Time mode.

As noted in our review, the Towers of Time mode features challenges to earn currency for unlocking content. However, the challenge was seemingly unfair at times, almost to encourage buying their way to the content instead.

“The biggest problem Mortal Kombat 11 has, however, is the way you unlock content in the game. Unlocking content via The Krypt and Towers of Time is infuriatingly tedious, unfair, and set up in such a way that players might get impatient, and use real money to unlock the content.

You unlock Koins, Souls, Keys, and Hearts in battle, all of which are used for unlocks. The game doesn’t make it easy to progress through unlocks. The Towers of Time will have you raging over button-copying AI, unfair or near-impossible fights, and more. To bypass this, you use in-game consumables.”

Others seemed to share our concerns, and NetherRealm recently took to Reddit to thank the community for its feedback, and explain the changes they were going to make:

We’re aware of the difficulty issues in Towers of Time, and while we’ve made some changes, rest assured there are more on the way. To help you along your way, everyone will receive:

  • 500,000 Koins
  • 500 Hearts
  • 1,000 Soul Fragments
  • 1,000 Time Krystals

This “Thank You Gift” is coming to all platforms. Other patch notes for the various platforms involving difficulty and currency include reducing AI difficulty (on some platforms by character tuning and reducing AI health in the Towers of Time), increased Kurrency rewards in Towers of Time, and reducing the effects and frequency of the most difficult modifiers in Towers of Time.

We will keep you posted as we learn more.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now Windows PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In case you missed it, you can find our review here.
