Following the news that Nintendo and Atlus are adding the Persona 5 protagonist to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the internet went ablaze with speculation. Coming from this, a new rumor is pointing to Persona 5 actually getting a Switch port.
The rumor comes via Twitter user and Persona Central writer/translator MysticDistance, who spotted a few new web domains registered by Atlus:
- P5U.jp
- P5R.jp
Both new domains were registered back on April 18th, 2017. Mystic speculates either could be the acronym for the Persona 5 port on Switch, something like Persona 5 Ultimate or Persona 5 Reloaded. With the announcement that Joker is joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, I’m beginning to believe this could actually happen.
Mystic suggests we could be getting a reveal for this new Persona 5 Switch port at next year’s Persona Super Live concert, which goes down on April 24th and 25th, 2019. The source also noted this is the day they believe Joker will be released as DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but this is just a personal take.
Mystic later hints that they have a source confirming this is the real deal – however as this is a rumor, take it with a grain of salt. Further speculation with the possible naming schemes point to the Switch port including a bevy of new content, as well as new story content.
