Koei Tecmo has announced Atelier Rurua: The Alchemist of Arland 4 in the latest Famitsu (via Hachima, Ryokutya2089).

The fourth entry in the Arland series is coming to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch sometime next year in Japan.

The game stars a new protagonist, Elmeluria Frixell, the daughter of none other than Ateler Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland protagonist Rorona. She’s a well-studied girl who is somewhat reckless. While studying under a master alchemist, she happens upon a strange book. Character designs are by Mel Kishida, and she even has a heart pin in her hair!

The voice actor for Elmeluria is currently unannounced. Her childhood friend, Eva Armster, also doesn’t have a confirmed voice actress. Eva is a bit different – as she’s a quiet girl that works at an orphanage. However, in battle she’s quite a fighter and seems to use Gatling guns and bazookas?

As with any Atelier game, players can expect a mix of battling, world exploration, and item synthesis in the latest in the Arland series. There will be new systems based on the mechanics seen in the other spinoff series in the franchise, as well as an even bigger world since the Arland Republic annexed the Arls.

UPDATE: The game has been confirmed for a western release – you can read more about that here.
