Intellivision Amico Revealed, Launches in October 2020

Following the curious news that a new Intellivision console is coming, Intellivision Entertainment has properly unveiled the new hardware.

The console is called the Intellivision Amico, and it’s launching on October 10th of 2020, with a suggested MSRP of $149-179. Featured above, you can view the reveal trailer for the console.

Fans can expect the console to bring with it 2D-only remastered versions of Intellivision, Atari, and iMagic games, as well as some new titles. There will be a downloadable app that users can use instead of a controller.

It’s worth pointing out that all future games in the console’s library cannot be rated over E10+ by the ESRB, to ensure the console is kid friendly. ESRB president Patricia Vance noted the focus on the console being family friendly:

“The average age of a gamer today is 34 years old, and the market reflects that with a broad array of games for people of all ages. Of course, some parents may find that many of those games are not age-appropriate for their children. Intellivision?s policy to only offer games rated E for Everyone and E10+ for Everyone 10 and up on its new system makes finding the right games easier for busy families, especially those with young gamers.”

Lastly, we’ve learned Intellivision has joined the Entertainment Software Association as the fourth console manufacturer to do so in the current year, after Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo.
