Capcom has announced a live-action movie based on the beloved Mega Man franchise.

The Hollywood-made film is being written and directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, and will be distributed by 20th Century Fox. Masi Oka (Heroes) is producing the film alongside Chernin Entertainment (Planet of the Apes).

While details like an official title or where this takes place in the long-running Mega Man timeline, Capcom noted they hope the adaptation will maintain “the world of the Mega Man games, while incorporating the grand production and entertainment value that Hollywood movies are known for.”

The latest game in the Mega Man franchise, Mega Man 11, just launched for Windows PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch.

Editor’s Note: Featured image is render artwork from the cancelled Maverick Hunter game set within the franchise.
