We’ve learned (thanks, Variety) that Remedy Entertainment’s action-adventure game Alan Wake is getting the silver screen treatment.

The game will be adapted to a TV show, with Peter Calloway (Cloak & Dagger, Legion) at the helm. The project sounds early in planning, as they’re going to shop it around to various production studios next month.

Original game writer Sam Lake is the executive producer, and will remain a “huge part” of the project, which is being currently handled by Contradiction Films.

“Alan Wake was basically a TV series that was put into a game,” said Contradiction’s Tomas Harlan. “That was Sam’s vision. It was influenced by The Twilight Zone, ‘Secret Window, Hitchcock, Northern Exposure, a lot of U.S. television.”

“We plan to work closely with Sam on our this show. Sam is a huge part of this. This is his baby,” he added.

Alan Wake was originally released for Xbox 360 back in 2010, and saw a standalone spinoff sequel of sorts known as Alan Wake’s American Nightmare in 2012.
