Chara-Ani has announced (via GAME Watch) the release date, gameplay details, and more for their upcoming Langrisser I & II remakes.

The remade package, which includes both Langrisser and Langrisser II, will launch on February 7th of next year in Japan for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders launch on September 6th.

First-run copies of the game will come with a download codef or “Classic Mode,” a visual style mode that lets users enjoy the original illustrations and background music – including artwork from original artist Satoshi Urushihara. There’s also a new heroine character that will have artwork drawn by Urushihara.

There’s a limited edition that comes with exclusive artwork by Urushihara as well. Here’s a comparison between that classic-styled artwork (left) to the new artwork (right), below:

Both games are primarily remakes, meaning the visual style, user interfaces, and more have been redone. There’s also now voice acting, new scenarios, the aforementioned new heroine, and even multiple endings in the original game (multiple endings didn’t originally come until its sequel).

The new heroine, Betty (voice by Hisako Tojo), is described as a young woman from an honorable family – she’s also the daughter of a familiar character. A knight of the Dalsis Empire, she received extensive training as a noble. However, she knows how to just get things done, and can be sometimes reckless.
