Larian Studios have confirmed details on the upcoming Definitive Edition for Divinity: Original Sin 2 in a Kickstarter update.
After taking feedback and data from players, the devs say they will adjust several things including:
- Revamping the Gold and EXP curve to ensure pacing is not stale in the end game.
- Rebalancing armor in all fights.
- A story mode that boasts a “more casual” experience for players “who want to focus on the dialogue and the atmosphere, and spend less time in combat”.
- Several fights are completely remade, and adding to new fights in locations such as Kemm’s Garden.
- New tutorial that spaces out new mechanics being introduced to the player.
- Over 100k of re-recorded words of voice acting- including new dialogue during the game’s climax to better clarify “character’s motivations” and a “largely rewritten” endgame.
- Performance adjustments for consoles and PC, along with keeping bandwidth low for streaming.
- Improvements to music (such as when playing as the Red Prince, hearing his theme when on the Lady Vengeance).
- UI and Journal updates.
- Adds Sir Lora the Squirrel Knight. A “mini-companion” and associated quests to stop the coming of the Great Acorn. It is “a pre-order bonus for Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition, but if you own Original Sin 2 on PC before the launch of the Definitive Edition, then you will receive Sir Lora for free as soon as the Definitive Edition goes live!”
The video’s description emphasizes that the Definitive Edition is “completely free to everyone who owns Original Sin 2!” The date of release has not been confirmed at this time.
