Following the disappearance and lack of updates of former Imageepoch CEO Ryoei Mikage around the time of the company’s bankruptcy and closure, we’re happy to learn the veteran Japanese developer has returned to the gaming industry – and he’s at the helm of an ambitious new project.

The new game is the 8-bit MMORPG Clan Senki, which is in development for PC browsers and smartphones by DMM Games. Featured above, you can view the announcement trailer for the game.

As the game is an MMORPG, it will include standard gameplay elements seen in the genre like a party system, a guild system, markets and an in-game economy. However, the game is being developed more as a casual-styled MMO, so anyone can hop in and just enjoy the game.

Lastly, 4Gamer.net has a thorough interview with Mikage, who talks up what happened in the end with Imageepoch, his return to the industry following the company’s bankruptcy, and how he’s bringing his pedigree to development on Clan Senki.

A release window for Clan Senki wasn’t announced.
