CyberConnect2 has announced they’ve put their Studio Ghibli-like action game Project Venom on hold.
The game was originally planned for a worldwide release across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One sometime last year. Now the future for the game remains uncertain, news confirmed via an interview with company president and Hiroshi Matsuyama Famitsu.
Matsuyama confirmed the game’s director has moved on to direct another big title, and that the goal was to create a MOBA-like experience. Furthermore, the development was never intended to be small in scale nor built in a short amount of time.
The game was inspired by the Studio Ghibli movie Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and its concept art featured what appeared to be player characters fighting mass swarms of bugs in what looks like a ravaged landscape. Matsuyama said that he’s thinking of taking another look at the game once they’ve finished their other titles.
