Beerus, Hit, and Goku Black Confirmed for Dragon Ball FighterZ

The latest V-Jump (via ShonenGameZ and Ryokuta2089) has confirmed some new playable characters for Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Three playable fighters including Beerus, Hit, and Goku Black were confirmed for the upcoming Arc System Works-developed 2D fighting game.

Here’s a brief synopsis of each character:

  • Beerus is the God of Destruction of Universe 7. He is accompanied by his martial arts teacher and attendant, Whis. Beerus’ twin brother is Champa, the God of Destruction of Universe 6. Beerus was the main antagonist of the God of Destruction Beerus Saga but becomes a supporting character in the later sagas.
  • Hit, known as “Hit the Infallible”and as the “Legendary Assassin” was the legendary assassin of Universe 6. He was the strongest member of Team Universe 6.
  • Goku Black, usually referred to as Black, is the main antagonist of the Future Trunks Saga of Dragon Ball Super. His true identity is the original present Zamasu from the unaltered main timeline, in which he stole the body of the original present Goku and sought to destroy all mortals alongside Future Zamasu. He was given the name “Goku Black” by Future Bulma when he initially referred to himself as Son Goku.

Two new gameplay mechanics were also confirmed, including: the ability to collect all seven Dragon Balls when you perform certain attack combos. You share the number of Dragon Balls gathered with your opponent. When all are collected, Shenron will appear and whichever player has more will have their wish granted. There are also dramatic and or famous scenes from the series that are shown before and after battle when certain criteria are met.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is launching across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on January 26th in North America and Europe. In case you missed it – we recorded exclusive, hands-on gameplay for the game, complete with our commentary on how it plays and feels. You can find that here.
