18K Gold-Laden Assassin’s Creed: Origins Headphones Cost $59,000

Ubisoft hasn’t been shying away from offering completely ludicrous merchandise for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Origins game. While the game’s $800 collector’s edition seemed totally outrageous, a new Origins-branded piece of merch has taken the collective cake for all of gaming history thus far.

We’ve learned that French jewelry designer Tournaire has announced a £44,000 18-karat gold-laden set of headphones for the game. That’s 59,000 United States dollary-doos. If you’re really a bored millionaire and you read this website for some reason, you can also buy a set with a life-sized bust of the game’s protagonist Bayek:

I’m assuming the bust isn’t made out of gold either, because that would be just silly at this point. The set costs an extra £11,000 for a total of £55,000 or $74,000 dollars.

Considering how absolutely ridiculous this set is, Tournaire is only making ten sets of these things. Or you could buy yourself a house, a medium-expensive motor vehicle, or more.

If you’re a normal person looking for normal person cost luxury headphones, there’s also Focal’s “Listen Wireless” range over on the Ubisoft store, which will set you back a paltry £200 in comparison (roughly $270).

Assassin’s Creed Origins launches worldwide across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 27th.

Well, the game is set near Saudi Arabia and Dubai where lots of bored millionaires live so maybe they’re trying to lure in that demographic

For millionaire’s is right, because not even the most hardcore fans of anything could afford to spend sixty large on crap like this.
This isn’t luxury, this is pure decadence.

$60,000. Gold is cheap as hell. Do these people think they’re the jewelry industry?

EDIT: Shit looks like they’re actually made by the jewelry industry. My bad.

Or you could spend half that money, buy a real sound system, isolate it, and STAX headphones with the 10k tube amp needed to drive it. Why do people keep thinking that Beats and Skull Kandies are the best the audio world has to offer while scoffing at the real audiophile world? I’m not saying its impossible for a person to spend $55k on headphones and audio equipment, its that you’d get a lot more for doing so. And it won’t be made out of shitty carbon fiber with lazy ass 18c gold lame. FFS, my $500 Grado RS-2’s have actual leather on the head band, gold contacts and mono-filament copper wire.

More like, this is what they think of their customers. Stupid, gullible, and desperate. Its not even real gold. Its 18 karat gold, which is: 18K gold is 75 per cent gold mixed with 25 per cent of other metals like copper. Its barely gold at that point.
