New Umihara Kawase Game Heading to Nintendo Switch

We’ve learned that a new Umihara Kawase game is being developed for the Nintendo Switch.

The news comes from this year’s Tokyo Game Show, where veteran Japanese publisher Success Corporation displayed a poster with a silhouette teaser for a new game:

This is clearly the very same silhouette as Umihara Kawase, the protagonist of the Umihara Kawase series. The teaser also has a blurb saying “The newest entry in the series!” with “Scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch” at the bottom of the poster.

The last game in the series, Sayonara Umihara Kawase, was first launched for the Nintendo 3DS back in 2013, only to be followed by PS Vita and PC ports a few years later.

A new one? I thought Sayonara Umiwara Kawase was their last name, therefore the name. Not that I complain of course, on the contrary. That’s a pleasant surprise as a fan of the series.

I thought this series died when the company behind it went bankrupt.

I don’t believe Studio Saizensen went under, your thinking of the previous publishing studio they worked with before Degica picked them up.
