Alongside a bunch of new Splatoon 2 details announced today, Nintendo also confirmed Splatfest tournaments for the game.

The first Splatfest will kick off worldwide on July 15th, a week before the game’s global launch. The game’s newly revealed characters Pearl and Marina will be MC’ing the event, coupled with a new contest: cake (Pearl) vs. ice cream (Marina). It’s worth mentioning Japan’s promo has rock vs. pop.

You’ll be able to party up with friends during Splatfests, however it remains unclear if you’ll be able to do this in the first Splatfest.

The new Splatfest will be available to download from the eShop later today, however it won’t go live until the 15th, from 3 PM – 7 PM Pacific / 6 PM – 10 PM Eastern.

Splatoon 2 is launching on July 21st for the Nintendo Switch.
