Super Meat Boy Creator Announces “The End is Nigh” for PC and Switch

Edmund McMillen, the developer of games such as Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Issac, has announced his newest game: The End is Nigh.

The new game is being co-developed with another indie developer, Tyler Glaiel. McMillen describes the game as a mix between VVVVVV1001 Spikes, and Spelunky.

Over on his Tumblr, McMillen explains the premise of The End is Nigh by saying:

The End Is Nigh is a sprawling adventure platformer where the player takes control over Ash, one of few “things” that have “survived” the “end of the world”.

Follow Ash as he flops his way through a future of pain and suffering. Feel his stress levels rise as you throw him into an endless swarm of decaying, mutant animal-like creatures and help aid his final epic quest… to simply make a friend (out of pieces of people he finds along his journey).

Oh, also you collect video game cartridges and tumors! if that does anything for ya.

The End is Nigh launches for PC July 12th, with a Switch version coming at a later date, along with other possible console ports.
