A previous report came out last week pointing at Square Enix recruiting core staff to expedite the development of the Final Fantasy VII Remake, with Mobius Final Fantasy lead programmer Naoki Hamaguchi stepping up to be project lead on the remake.
Now, we’ve learned (thanks Square Enix, via FF-Reunion) from a Mobius Final Fantasy livestream that development on the game is shifting from collaboratively working alongside external developers to building the game completely in-house.
Hamaguchi confirmed his involvement on the game as project lead, saying that Square Enix’s team wants to control everything with development, notably its quality and development schedule.
Previously, Square Enix confirmed that CyberConnect2 was one of the studios collaborating with Square Enix on the project.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is currently in development for PlayStation 4.
