Activision and Bungie have properly unveiled Destiny 2.
The game is poised as a “new beginning” for everyone, including both returning players and newcomers alike. The game’s full announcement trailer can be viewed above.
While the previous game was available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the sequel is coming to PC as well – however Steam players will be surprised to hear it’s coming exclusively via Blizzard’s popular Battle.net platform (which they sadly just rebranded anyway).
The game’s online PVP Crucible mode will be four on four, for all modes. Coming from this, raids, trials, and the Nightfall will be available to “all players,” via a new system called Guided Games. There will be three new strikes, new PVP modes (including a new Countdown mode), but only one raid at launch.
The story begins after the forces of good are defeated at the Tower, in the first “Homecoming” mission. Following this, you’ll lose your powers, vaults, and the city to the Cabal’s Red Legion. The new planets include Earth, Io, Titan, and Nessus.
New classes confirmed for the game include: the Warlock’s Dawnblade, the Hunter’s Arcstrider, and the Titan’s Sentinel. You’ll have three weapon slots that are more flexible than the original game, dubbed Kinetic, Power, and Energy.
There will be a more expanded clan system including customizable banners, in-game rosters, and other nice features to make building and showing off your clan easier. You’ll also be able to launch activities from anywhere in the game world, without having to go to orbit.
Destiny 2 is launching across PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 8th, with a PC release coming later.
