Niche Spotlight – Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator: Live Out Your Battle Fantasies

This is Niche Spotlight. In this column, we regularly introduce new games to our fans, so please leave feedback and let us know if there’s a game you want us to cover!

If you’ve ever wondered who would win in a battle: Chuck Norris or an army of super-chickens.. well, a curious new sandbox simulator has been released on Steam Early Access that might tickle your fancy. While it might seem like YouTube/Twitch streamer fodder at first glance, it has some pretty serious tools behind its silly premise.

With a title like Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator, you’d expect the game to include all the bells and whistles you could ever want in your dream battle scenarios. Featured above, you can view one of my favorite battle demos, where 30,000 Romans and Orcs fight, only to be annihilated by a nuke.

Want to see an army of Santa Clauses fight an army of sentient furniture? What if you’re curious of what happens when fully-automatic catapults unload upon a charging army of mounted knights? You can do all of that and more.

You can mess with stats of each unit you put into your battles, including their health, damage, and attack speed, as well as fool around with unit placement, environments, and more. There are plans for more customization options, and you can naturally got as far as you want, provided you have the necessary rig to handle 100,000 units on screen at the same time.

The game could be played simply for the Let’s Play dollaroos, but there are implications to recreate historical battles as well. What if you wanted to relive the iconic battle of Thermopylae, where Leonidas’ and his Spartans held off the Persian horde while the bulk of his army retreated? You can do that in this game. Or, you can set up joke scenarios for laughs.

You can find Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator here on Steam Early Access, for PC.
