Tekken 7 Paid DLC Will Only Feature “Special Characters”

We previously learned that Tekken 7 wouldn’t get any classic fighters added post-launch, via paid downloadable content. However, it seems like Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada and Bandai Namco aren’t ruling out new post-launch fighters entirely.

Instead, the game’s paid downloadable content will include “special characters,” according to one of the game designers on staff.

This correlates with Harada previously noting that Bandai Namco will not sell classic characters. This leaves the door open to release them as free DLC.

The company is planning a season pass for the game, which includes at least a year of post-launch development and content. Harada also noted that with this season pass, they’ll also be able to do “free updates and support for a long time.”

Tekken 7 is launching across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on June 2nd.
