Koei Tecmo and Omega Force have both announced Dynasty Warriors 9.
The game was revealed during a live broadcast today. Development platforms weren’t confirmed, however the game was introduced by PlayStation and Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia president Atsushi Morita – so we’re guessing it’s probably a PlayStation 4 title.
Featured above, you can view a teaser trailer for the game. Koei Tecmo’s Akihiro Suzuki and Masaki Furusawa confirmed all 80+ characters from the previous games will be playable, with newcomer Zhou Cang, as well as many other new characters being playable.
As for a western release, Koei Tecmo USA and Europe both formally announced the game as well, so a western release announcement is probably coming soon. If you’re unfamiliar with the series, the English localization has been ahead one number due to a spinoff being localized as Dynasty Warriors 2.
The game is being poised as a celebration of the 15th anniversary, as well as a “rebirth” of the franchise, seeing big changes to mechanics, all set within an open world. You’ll be able to explore huge fields as you see fit, and visit various towns.
