With the Fox Engine owned by Konami, Hideo Kojima toured the world and basically shopped around for a third party engine that would suit his needs for Death Stranding.

Now, Kojima Productions boss Hideo Kojima has revealed the game is being made within the same game engine as Guerrilla Games’ Horizon: Zero Dawn. This means the relationship between Kojima Productions and Sony Interactive Entertainment is much closer than we thought.

Known internally as the Decima engine, and within the past few years has seen a “quantum leap” in terms of sheer power, according to Guerrilla Games studio head Hermen Hulst.

Mads Mikkelsen was confirmed as the game’s antagonist, set against the protagonist set to be played by Norman Reedus. Finally, Kojima confirmed there will be female characters in the game, however they haven’t been confirmed just yet.

In case you missed it, you can find the game’s newest trailer here.
