The man that spawned endless memes regarding feature creep and the sheer scale of environments within games has struck again, this time with Fallout 4 getting a potential virtual reality-enabled version.

When speaking in an interview with Glixel, director and executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios Todd Howard said the studio is definitely working on trying to get Fallout 4 working inside virtual reality.

“We definitely are,” Howard said when pressed if the studio is “trying to put all of Fallout 4 in VR.”

“That’s the promise of VR, being in a big virtual world. The core experience, meaning you put on the headset and you’re standing in the world of Fallout and can go where you want, just that little bit is every bit as cool as you hope it would be,” Howard continued. “Once we did that, we were like, ‘OK, we gotta see where this goes’.”

It seems like Howard is banking on ringing in gamers that won’t traditionally play their games, or role-playing games.

“It did make us aware that some of the things we do speak to people who don’t traditionally play games, or don’t traditionally play role-playing games,” Howard said. “They make it their own experience, and that was what was most important to us. Putting somebody in a world where they can do what they want. I think that’s what’s special about video games as entertainment.”
