Sony has announced at GDC that their PlayStation VR will be launching in October 2016, for $399. (399 Euro, 349 GBP, 44,980 Yen)
We’ve already seen much of what the VR is capable of thanks to past events and previews of games, but it’s nice to finally know just what we can expect to spend to get our hands on the headgear itself. Also of note, is that the line up of games for PSVR is already sitting at 50 or so game for at launch.
The headgear will also allow for ‘Cinematic Mode’, which will let users play their normal flatscreen games, watch movies, and just generally use your PlayStation with the headset’s display.
Some notes:
- 1920 x 1080 Display
- Nine LEDs on the headset allow the PS Camera to track the movement even when turning away from the camera.
- Supports 3D audio
