Despite Bandai Namco previously saying Tekken x Street Fighter is in a “very advanced stage” of development, the developer is still unkeen on confirming a release window for the long-awaited fighter.
Tekken 7’s Senior Game Designer, Michael Murray, spoke in the upcoming Official PlayStation Magazine (via PlayStation Unlimited), in which he said the game is still in development, although he is unable to confirm further details:
“It’s still in development, but as far as a release window we haven’t really decided on that,” said Murray.
Tekken x Street Fighter was announced back in 2010 alongside Street Fighter x Tekken, which Capcom spearheaded in development. While the latter has been available for awhile now, Bandai Namco’s version still hasn’t seen much of, well, anything really confirmed.
Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada said in July of last year that the developer is still actively working on the game:
“That isn’t true! I’ve said this before, but the bottom line is that we’re at a very advanced stage into its development,” said Harada. “It may not seem like we haven’t started development at all, but the character lineup has been finalized a long time ago, and we’ve already completed the in-game models, moves, and systems.”
With Bandai Namco currently working on Tekken 7: Fated Retribution (as well as its console ports), it makes sense that Tekken x Street Fighter was kind of put off to the side, once again.
