New Jersey’s favorite son Kevin Smith (Sorry Springsteen, Bon Jovi, and Joe Piscopo) is looking to create a new side-scrolling beat ’em up game featuring his iconic stoner characters Jay & Silent Bob, and he’s seeking crowdfunding support on Fig to accomplish it.
The game, called Jay & Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch, will feature tag-team co-op and special move commands similar to the kind found in Marvel V.S. Capcom, but will still retain its beat-em-up roots by remaining a mostly straightforward side scrolling brawler. There’s also a feature referred to as the “Convo Combo Mechanic” which allows you to injure the enemy on a personal, psychological level rather than a physical one. This can also apparently be used to flatter enemies as well, making them your ally in the process.
Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes will be providing voice work for the game (naturally), so this may be something for fans of Smith’s View Askewniverse to look into throwing their money behind. Smith & the company working on the game, Interabang Entertainment, are hoping to receive at least $400,000 so they can avoid having to bow to publishers and censor any content from the game. So far, they are 62K into their stated 400K goal.
