In a recent interview with 4gamer, Sony Computer Entertainment Senior Vice President Masayasu Ito went reiterate Sony’s lack of 1st party title development for PS Vita, and have no plans on making any.
From the interview:
“As it stands, our first party studios have no games in development for PS Vita. With third parties working diligently on PS Vita, our own strategy is to focus on the PlayStation 4, which is a new development platform”
It’s sad news to hear for sure, but not all bad as 3rd party developers will continue to develop for the handheld with no signs of slowing down.
This comment following Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said the “climate is not healthy” for a PS Vita successor, it makes you wonder how much longer Sony is willing to support the platform.
What are your guys thoughts on Sony abandoning 1st party development for the Vita?
