With Microsoft’s big Xbox One overhaul bringing Xbox 360 backwards compatibility to the console, the question of PlayStation 3 backwards compatibility has returned for PlayStation 4 users.

With Sony’s Paris Games Week press conference behind us, the press attending the event have had the chance to ping various folks at the publisher.

When responding to a fan on their PlayStation France Twitter, Sony worldwide studios boss Shuhei Yoshida was quite firm in his answer to PS3 games running on PS4, via backwards compatibility:

“No,” said the Sony boss, while also giving a coy smile. When it comes to PlayStation One and PlayStation 2 games, Yoshida said there was “no news to announce about PS1 and PS2 classics on PS4,’ when speaking to Dualshockers.

How do you guys feel about Sony’s seeming refusal to enable PlayStation 3 backwards compatibility on PlayStation 4? Sound off in the comments below!
