We’ve learned (via GameBlog) that Julien Merceron, the man who supervised Konami’s Fox Engine as tech director, has parted ways with the company.
While the original source is in French (and unconfirmed), IGN is reporting that independent sources have verified that Merceron has indeed left the company.
Merceron joined Konami back in 2013 as the company’s worldwide technology director, and during his time at the company the Fox Engine was made to build both Metal Gear Solid V and the latest in the Pro Evolution Soccer series.
The news of Merceron leaving the company follows countless reports of trouble at Konami, including mastermind creator Hideo Kojima also leaving the company, a new focus on mobile titles, and more.
We’ve reached out to Konami for a comment, and will update this report should we receive any new information.
