It seems like the latest rumor surrounding Konami abandoning their AAA game development isn’t true, according to a new statement from the publisher.

A representative from Konami has gone on the record to say the publisher is not AAA game development for home consoles, according to a response over on Reddit.

The user opened a support ticket, asking what is happening with the future of Metal Gear Solid and the Fox Engine. To his surprise (and ours) the company responded with the following statement:

“I can promise you that we’re definitely not leaving Metal Gear behind or anything like that. I know some blogs were claiming that online this morning, but I’m not really sure where they’d be getting that from.

We’re still definitely working on console games and franchises such as Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, PES and all the rest.”

It’s worth mentioning that Konami was previously hiring new staff for an entirely new Metal Gear project, although it remains to be seen what this could be.
