Konami is running the first alpha test for Beatmania IIDX Infinitas, a PC version of Beatmania IIDX.

The first round of testing was on 9/2/2015 (Wednesday) from 14:30 (2:30pm) – 20:00 (8:00pm). They noted that since this was the alpha version of the software, there may be times when it behaves abnormally. More information about the second test will be revealed in a few days at game’s official website.

New elements will be offered in the PC version of Beatmania IIDX: Infinitas, including new stages, beats, and the ability to assign keys in the options menu. While the alpha test is free, it does require the user to have a Konami ID.

The following is information known about the alpha test software for Beatmania IIDX Infinitas. Supported environments for this new software include Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1. They could not guarantee that the software would work without issue on an OS above these (i.e., Windows 10).

At least a 2.5GHz CPU is required. They recommended a CPU equal to 2.7GHz or above that in the Intel Core i5 series. 2GB of RAM was the bare minimum, with 4GB or more recommended.  Depending on your system configuration, you may need more than 4GB of RAM. You’ll need at least 5GB of free space on your hard disk.

A graphics card with 256mb or more graphics memory would be needed. It is essential that the user’s system can support Microsoft Direct X 9.0C or above. The Microsoft DirectX End User Runtime should be installed.

They can not guarantee the software will operate normally if the user tries to rely on a notebook PC’s onboard graphics capabilities. The software’s audio is in stereo. Headphone and earphone users should be careful to listen at a reasonable volume.

It supports 1280×720 resolution, and a 16:9 screen is recommended for fullscreen. Depending on the user’s desktop, there may be delays or after images. Users should confirm that their keyboard supports simultaneous input from multiple keys.

They recommended a broadband connection for the game. Unsurprisingly, downloading the game through the installer required an active internet connection. Likewise, preserving the game’s save data on the server also required an active internet connection. They also noted that since the Alpha Test’s installer was 2 gigabytes in size, to be very careful if downloading it through a mobile data connection.

A sample list of songs available on the Alpha Test version of the software is below:

According to a sample Q and A from the FAQ, there is no plan to sell a PC Bemani controller at this time. They did say that people who are knowledgeable could connect a controller to it (TL Note: perhaps through a PS2 to USB adapter) but could not guarantee that it would function normally.

A reminder, the first alpha test for Beatmania IIDX: Infinitas is over – but Konami will surely be holding more in the future. For now, check out the game’s official website – we’ll keep you guys posted.
