Deep Silver has announced they’re shutting down Dead Island: Epidemic, a MOBA that has been available on Steam Early Access since November of last year.

The game joins the Early Access graveyard with other prematurely-cancelled titles like Moonrise, which saw a similar end of service earlier this month. Dead Island: Epidemic will be shut down on October 15th.

Developer Stunlock Studios confirmed the news over on the game’s official Steam page:

“Over the past weeks and months we’ve been evaluating how to proceed with Dead Island: Epidemic and looking towards the future for the game,” the publisher wrote. “We’re sad to announce today that we’ve come to the conclusion to cease further development.”

If you’re still playing the game, all of the characters and items in-game will receive a large discount. A planned free-to-play title, Dead Island: Epidemic originally required users to buy into the early testing via a starter pack.

The “Deadicated” pack cost $39.99, and it promised items to be given to players upon the game’s full launch. Now that this will never happen, it remains unclear as to whether players will get some kind of refund. We’ll update this post accordingly should Deep Silver issue a statement.

You can find Dead Island: Epidemic here on Steam.
