This past weekend, Final Fantasy-themed orchestra Distant Worlds had a concert in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

We first reported on composer Arnie Roth letting slip that a Final Fantasy XII “remake” was happening. He motioned to the game’s composer, Hitoshi Sakimoto, who confirmed the remake – leading to much speculation by fans.

Now, Roth has clarified his “remake” statement over on the Distant Worlds Facebook page:

Dear friends,

In response to comments posted by fans, I want to rectify a statement made from the stage Saturday night at our Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY concert in Pittsburgh.

Following conversations with composer Hitoshi Sakimoto regarding new concert arrangements of music from FINAL FANTASY XII, regrettably, the term ‘remake’ was used in error during one of the announcements that took place from the stage during the concert.

We sincerely regret any confusion this has caused.

The most interesting thing here is that Roth did not completely redact the fact that some sort of re-release is happening – only that a “remake” is not happening.

For now, we’ll shelf this rumor.
