Development on Final Fantasy XV is Currently 65% Complete, will Release in 2016

We’ve learned the release window for Square Enix’s latest in the Final Fantasy series, Final Fantasy XV.

When speaking to Gamespot, game director Hajime Tabata said “We can certainly say to people: it’s not going to be 2017. It’s going to be before that.”

When asked if we can expect the release date announcement soon, Tabata said:

“At the very least, I can tell you that it isn’t going to be released this year. I think we’ll be able to tell you when we’re making the announcement around PAX Prime, at the end of this month.”

Finally, despite the promise of the game coming next year, we’ve also learned the current progress of the game’s development.

Development is currently 65 percent complete, Tabata said to DualShockers. “All the plans are now solidly in place both for development and marketing,” Tabata said. “Everything is ‘proceeding very well’ and development is on target.”

We’ll keep you guys posted.
