Mooncrest Kickstarter is Cancelled, will Relaunch with Gameplay Footage

Former BioWare developers based at indie studio KnightMayor announced their Kickstarter-funded RPG, Mooncrest, last month.

Now, the developer has cancelled their Kickstarter, news they’ve confirmed over on their Kickstarter page. “This past weekend, we came to the realisation that we weren’t going to make it and we felt canceling was our best course of action,” said KnightMayor in the update.

The game raised $48,000 of its expectant $400,000 funding goal at its time of cancellation. KnightMayor is made up of five ex-BioWare developers, and they hoped to make a fantasy RPG that combined Souls-like combat with the puzzles and story-driven style of older BioWare games.

Their team’s pedigree runs the gamut of titles from Mass Effect, Jade Empire and Star Wars: The Old Republic. KnightMayor did make a point in saying their Kickstarter had its issues, including a spotty pitch video, the lack of gameplay footage, and more.

Despite this unsteady launch, KnightMayor is going to relaunch with a new Kickstarter, but only when they have gameplay footage.

“Our focus will be on having a pitch video that actually, ya know, pitches the game, having in-game footage to show, and just going more in depth on what we have in place to see this game through production and to release,” said KnightMayor.

We’ll keep you guys posted.
