Blizzard announced some new additions to Hearthstone during their Gamescom 2015 presentation. The digital trading card game will be getting both a new jousting mechanic, as well as monthly ranked rewards.

First up – it’s the new gameplay mechanic, jousting. As the name suggests, if a player draws a joust card, both players will summon minions from their respective decks.

The player with the minion card which costs more mana will come out the victor, and if the player who drew the joust card is the winner, they’ll receive the bonus of said card. You can view a quick gameplay video, featured above, which shows off this new mechanic in play.

Blizzard also revealed 11 new cards, including the Master Jouster (which grants the player both taunt and divine shield), the Tuskarr Jouster (which restores 7 health to the player’s hero), and the Armored Warhorse (which gives the player charge), among others.

You can view the full reveal of cards here, over on the official Hearthstone website.

Finally, Highest Rank Bonus was confirmed to be coming with the upcoming Grand Tournament expansion. According to Blizzard, this is an overall improvement for the game, designed to keep Hearthstone players onto their ranked matches, without fear of having their rank going down.

The reasoning behind this is that each player’s quest log will capture your highest rank for that month, and by the end of the month, you’ll receive a bonus for whatever your highest rank was. As you can expect, the monthly rewards will vary from rank to rank.

The Grand Tournament expansion for Hearthstone is set for a release some time later this month.
