We’ve learned that a new Vampire Hunter D animated series is in the works.
The production is being handled by California-based Unified Pictures, although we know a bunch of Japanese creators and studios are collaborating on the project. The new CG anime series will be based off the original Vampire Hunter D novels, and is set to arrive sometime in the near future.
The series creator Hideyuki Kikuchi is naturally on board with the production, alongside Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust director Yoshiaki Kawajiri, as well as Japanese animation studio Digital Frontier.
While it’s exciting to see a new breath of life in one of my most adored works of fiction, it’s worrying to know this new series will be a CG one – the fleshy, bloody, and usually gothic/dark world of Vampire Hunter D might not lend itself well to a CG-look.
What do you guys think? Are you excited to see the iconic dhampir hunter in another production?
