When Nintendo announced Metroid Prime: Federation Force, many fans were disappointed at the game being essentially an upgraded port of Metroid Prime Hunters, a Nintendo DS game that launched back in 2006.
Despite this, it seems like Nintendo is definitely aware of the fact that fans want a proper Metroid game, one that harkens back to the Metroid Prime series, or maybe even a new take on the metroidvania flavor that pleased so many fans years prior.
We’ve learned (via Kotaku) that not only is Nintendo aware of fans’ demands for a new Metroid, we might be seeing an announcement for it soon: When asked if Nintendo proper knows that fans still want a Samus Aran-focused adventure, Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime said “Absolutely.”
After being pressed a bit, he elaborated:
“Look, we know that the fans want a straight Samus Aran game. We also know that the best way to launch a game like that is to surprise and delight them, to give them a launch date, in an environment like this let them play it vs. what other companies do which is to announce a project that you may not see for five, six years. It’s just not the way we do things. We know the community wants to see a straight-up Metroid game. We know it.”
So what do you guys think – would you like to see a new, proper, Metroid game starring Samus Aran?
